Frequently Asked Questions

Is this program considered "Purely Positive "?

“Purely Positive” dog training is a training method that focuses solely on positive reinforcement and rewards, without any use of punishment or correction. We prefer to use “Positive Reinforcement,” as we reinforce good behavior with praise, treats, or other positive stimuli. However, unlike “Purely Positive” training, we will address dangerous or bad behavior if necessary. If your dog likes to chase cars on busy streets, we certainly don’t want to ignore that behavior.

What's the difference between Clicker & Marker Training?

Clicker training and marker training are both forms of positive reinforcement training. Still, they differ in the specific type of “marker” used to communicate to the dog that it has performed the desired behavior. A “marker” can be a verbal cue like a “YES!” Clicker training is just what it sounds like: a clicker marks the exact moment a dog performs the desired behavior. The choice between the two often comes down to personal preference and the dog’s specific needs.

Who is this program designed for ?

This program is for any dog owner who is ready to begin their pup’s dog training journey with an early introduction to basic obedience commands. It is also perfect for dog owners who aren’t yet comfortable with e-collar training or other traditional balanced dog training methods.

What rewards are used in positive reinforcement training?

We use different training rewards for different dogs. Treats are the most commonly used reward in positive reinforcement training as they are highly motivating for most pups. But we may also use clickers, toys, verbal praise, playtime, etc.

Is there an age requirement or breed restriction?

Although there is no specific age requirement, if you have a new puppy, you should call us first so we can decide together the best time to get your puppy started.

A huge SHOUT OUT to our trainer with Off Leash K9 Training 30A. My sweet girl, Kahlua, a one year old American Staffordshire Terrier, participated in their 2week board and train program. Kahlua absolutely crushed it with the help of her amazing trainer. I’m so appreciative to him & their entire team. He went over and above with keeping me involved and up to date on how my girl was doing. It was hard enough being away from her for two weeks and our trainer taking the time to send texts, pictures & videos made the process so much easier on my little heart. I loved seeing her daily progress and all the adventures they went on in our local area. Our trainer & the entire teams love for what they do is evident.. caring for your fur babies like their own. Great work and thank you so much..!!!

What a relief to find great dog trainers. We took our English Setter to Off Leash K9 Training 30A and let our our trainer work his magic. She was a rescue dog from a kill shelter and had a ton of issues and the team at Off Leash did great work. The daily videos they sent us so we could watch her progress in training really made us feel at ease. She is no longer timid and disobedient. She has more confidence and is an angel in public. I highly recommend using our trainer and his team.

We cannot thank our trainer enough for training our Birdie!! She worked so hard day in and day out and sent us updates along the way! Before, Birdie was playful yet very defiant and rarely listened to us. Now, we can confidently take her out in public *off leash*! It’s amazing how far Birdie came in 2 weeks, and we look forward to refreshers with our trainer in the future! Thank you x a million!

Our trainer is incredible! We could barely walk our puppy as she would pull so hard she would choke herself the entire time. She’s now completely different. We can take her everywhere and she follows commands off leash. She is an absolute joy to work with and a true dog whisperer! Thank you!!!!

We trained our 8 month old mini labradoodle using the 2 week urban course. I have nothing but positive things to say about our experience. Our trainer was extremely knowledgeable thoroughly answering all of our questions. She sent us several videos and photos throughout the day of Alfie’s progress and it made this dog mom feel good knowing he was so taken care of. Alfie went from being a crazy puppy all of the time to knowing when he can be crazy and when it is time to work. If/when we get another dog I would not hesitate to enroll them, it is absolutely worth the money.

We had our German shepherd and lab/Pitt mix trained through our trainer and the team at Off Leash and couldn’t be happier with the outcome. Our GSD was extremely nervous around people and is a completely different dog after completing training. Our lab mix loved people a little too much (didn’t know his 75lbs could do some damage) and now he’s great out in public and it’s really easy to have people over to the house. We absolutely loved all the trainers we’ve worked with - but definitely ask for our trainer if you have a German shepherd, he’s the GSD whisperer.
