Ben Hutchinson

Head Trainer, Savannah, GA

Ben was born and raised in Rhode Island.  He spent summers with his Grandfather on the family farm in Maine.  He began working with animals at a very young age.  In September of 2014 he decided to make a commitment to serve our Country by joining the U.S. Army.  He went to Fort Benning and trained as an 11B soldier, Infantry.  After finishing Basic and Advanced training he went on to complete Airborne Training. Then, he served a tour in Iraqi.  After returning to Fort Stewart, GA, volunteers were needed to become Tactical Explosive Detection Dog (TEDD) handlers.  With a great love of animals, once again Ben stepped up and volunteered.  This classification required over 700 hours of classroom and field training.  The training included attending an intensive program at the famous Vohne Liche Kennels.  A kennel that trains some of the best detection dogs in the world.

After completion of the TEDD training program, Ben and his K9 partner headed for a tour of duty in Afghanistan.  After completing the tour, Ben returned to Fort Stewart.  While exploring and enjoying the area, he decided to stay and bought a property in the country. Looking for an opportunity to work with dogs, Ben found OLK9.  We are so happy Ben decided to join our team.  He is already making a huge difference in the lives of dogs and their owners in the Savannah area.
